walk for oral cancer

on sunday, UCLA's dental school had an oral cancer walk my friend jamie and i took our kids to. we supported, we didn't really walk the whole 5k but we enjoyed it! i guess that counts a little right? the night before they played wii and then we woke them up early to head over.
justin

UCLA was gorgeous. the weather was perfect.
brady did such a great job organizing it all.

we walked around westwood with the kids and their ballons, ate m&m cookies in the car and then hung out. gage and bentley are to die for! i love their red hair and how jackson thinks they are twins even though they are two years apart.

san francisco last week

here is a quick summary of our last trip to san francisco...

almond joy :: erin elton :: in-n-out :: pier 33 :: ghiradehlli square :: cousin's haircuts :: giants fans everywhere :: perfect weather :: walked 4 miles with 14 kids by myself whilst looking for the right dock :: garlic french fries:: ate a whole pint of almonds :: cutest old couple on the boat...

then went to alcatraz with family and friends

took an old bus around fishermans and then a bunch of taxi's back to the game because we were tired.

being at the at&t park was amazing. it was so full of giant spirit and dodgers rivalry. we went with 35 other people in our group of friends and family. i was totally head to toe wrapped in a thick blanket.
a ton of seagulls came to watch the game with us. it was pretty neat.
such a fun day here.

train ride with my buddy

to come home from san francisco, i surprised jackson with a train ride along the coast. it was such a fun experience for us both. some would say 12 hours sitting next to their child would test patience, especially when you are use to quick hour flights but i must say this was something i hope he never forgets.
i woke him up at 5am...
we never get donuts but this morning i treated him to his sprinkles.
... i totally got him a train hat and new shirt. couldn't resist.

the railroad tracks were being repaired so part of our trip was on a charter bus.
we got to hang out, hold hands, eat swedish fish, talk about sharks and draw pictures.
the train from santa barbara was so fun! that station was really pretty. jack was so excited that people around us came over to talk to him about it. it was really sweet.
i sort of got the butterflies.
this little masterpiece he made on the train. he came up with all the people on the train and said, "these are all the people i wanted to be on the ride with us"... oh and he said he is the conductor. of course :)

loves.

w e e k e n d :: p o s t s

this week has been busy with traveling back and forth to san francisco and other things that occupy me away from the computer. nonetheless, i do have some fun links since its friday!

people with food allergies! this website was made by my brother-in-law and his friend asher. they designed it so you etsy-ers can share your homemade foods!

the next party i throw, i'm totally doing this to the little things that are questionable and non-questionable.

one of my gorgeous brides got featured in a cute blog that is popular in the wedding biz. i feel special being a part of this day. they are a rad, rad couple with lots of unique style.

bracelets that are plated in felt. i like bracelets. perfect, simple accessory.

a good tie on a man, tells a lot. these ties can be designed by you. i know, for real.

i am into beds. i am into beds that work all day like so.

want to learn how to make paper accordion streamers? i know i did too. super duper cute and i kinda want to make them just because.

i love red quinoa. now you can learn how to properly cook it.

3 against 1

we were able to visit one of our happy places again.
this time with some friends; one big, one small.

will and jameson.
there is something about stuffing two four-year-olds in a BOB that makes a good picture.

the famous jungle tour.
still gets us thinking those hippos are real.

autotopia with will!
he drove really well and i was the funny-faced passenger.

jameson and jack after a good ride.

 jack and will sharing streams.

right before jack thought he was headed off to space
after waiting 85 minutes for space mountain.

we hope to get back soon because this place is
kind of where lots of fun is always made.

such a dandy friday

friday links
jack: "mom, today is a day of fools. let's tease people!"
this weekend should be great.
we will be busy spending time together, doing hairs, jack gets to go to the beach while i work, and most importantly, we will be watching general conference. really looking forward to this weekend.

+ back to the future was a great flick. so are these photos.

+ sorry for those that are sick of this, but marcel the shell will never get old to me.

+ jack and i are moving soon. i am looking for things to decorate out of habit but not out necessity. this is where i am looking but not buying.

+ there is this artist i like, marco suarez that has some neat, neat designs in circles. the symbolism gets me. especially his new work.

+ some of you like music. this guy does.  i have contributed a little if you scroll towards the middle of this blog. free music.  take advantage yo!

+ a few reasons why you may or may not be married.
i liked this article and tend to agree with most of her opinions.

+ we are getting deep on this link list... where have all the good men gone? wsj article i liked.

lastly, i leave with you something someone just told me.
maybe it will move you, even just a little.
"an invisible red thread connects those who
are destined to meet regardless of time,
place or circumstance.
the thread may stretch or tangle
but will never break."
-chinese proverb

3.28.2011

last night jackson and i played "who am i"
it was his turn.
j: "i am yellow all over, polka dots that are black. like big polka dots.
um, i have claws. i have eyes. i have a mouth.
i fly sometimes.
i kill things.
i grawl like this... rawr!
who am i?"

m: "a bee"

j: "no mom... bees don't have mouths! another guess."

m: "a tiger shark"

j: "no mom! tiger sharks don't grawl.
okay i'll give you a hint.
they have teeth and babies named cheetos"

{i'm laughing}
{then i can't stop laughing}

well duh!
when i guessed cheetah, he said,
"finally! i thought you would never guess. i'm tricky."

extra day!

this weekend jackson was with his dad but i was surprised to find out,
i got to get him back a day early!
he ran up to me and yelled "mommeeee!"

i am getting ready for the mud run in san diego in june.  cannot wait.
my run this morning looked like this.

loyal to the royal within you

{catching up}

i love the young women. there is something so sweet about being around girls who are figuring out who they are and who they want to become makes you want to magnify whatever you can as a leader. although i am not around as much as i would like to be, i get to see these beautiful girls the most in the stake.  my calling is made up... i am the creative director for the stake young women's personal progress/assistant to my ward's presidency which basically breaks down to: i float to different wards teaching them how to do hair and makeup or yoga and pilates or healthy ways to eat.  in my own ward i help with personal progress so i was able to help with this particular young women's in excellence activity.

the theme was really clever: loyal to the royal within you.

the theme was found from a general conference talk becky jones found which fit perfectly. we wanted the girls to feel like they were of royal birth and heir.

i had some of my hair peeps come to the church to do their hair and makeup.

in arizona, i had my other young women's do a dance recital during young women's in excellence one year, so i suggested we had one of our ballerinas do it and the pres thought it would be fun.  so it turned out great!  loved seeing the girls look all dressed up like royalty.

i love serving these young women.  it's the best.
xx
